Chernigiv is the old capital of the Ukrainian Zadernoprovia. In the most ancient memoirs of the chronicler, it is the most important city in the Trans-Dnieper region at the beginning of the X century, therefore, a thousand years ago.

The deceased belonged to the prominent representatives of the scientific movement, which, beginning with the revival of Ukrainophilism in the late 1850s, puts in place the foundations for the scientific historiography of Ukraine-Rus.

In the summer of the last [1901], the Petersburg Academy of Sciences suffered almost two losses one time: academician Sukhomlinov died on July 8, and academician Zhdanov on July 11.

In the section "Literary studies" published the review M.G.Halansky. To the history of poetic legends about Oleg the Prophetic, - (1904).

The second cardinal flaw is that the author sees in these later stories a folk tradition, an epic, ignoring the possibility (very wide) of a scribes combinations.
