We publish the article "One of the legends of Khmelnytsky’s wars" (1913).
It can be said that the historiography of Khmelnytsky’s epoch to this day has not managed to break free from the influence of this legend, has not freed itself from its spell.
New article on M. Hrushevsky’s creativity
We publish the article by Myron Kapral and Andriy Felonyuk "When the Guns Spoke, the Muse Clio Was Not Silent" (2009).
M. Hrushevsky’s scientific productivity was influenced by events of the war and revolutionary period, which were independent of the scientist’s will.
New organizational article
We are publishing the article "From the editorial board [of the magazine "Ukraine", 1917, Vol. 1-2]".
The scientific society then decided to continue publishing beyond the sphere of Kyiv censorship, in Moscow, under the title "Ukrainian Scientific Collection".
New article on history
We publish the article "Recent literature on the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania" (1916).
A compendium similar to Prof. Lubawski’s course also appeared in Polish scientific literature. It is closely related to the course of the Moscow professor.
New article on history
We publish the article "History of Khmelnytskyi movement, written down by Siluyan Muzhylovsky in February 1649" (1914).
Muzhylovsky was tasked with his mission to Moscow to incite the Moscow government to take armed action on the Lithuanian borders.

We publish the article "To the history of Ostryanin’s emigration" (1914).
Ostryanin, leaving "in the royal name", in the summer of 1638 appealed to the Moscow government not to send them to the border towns, because, they say, they were leaving with their entire household.

We finish publishing the article “The Development of Ukrainian Studies in the 19th Century and the Exposing of the Main Issues of Ukrainian Studies in it” (1914). Today – the last 4 chapters, including "Studies in the field of history of the 11th – 16th centuries: language and literature."
The study of the Ukrainian language and literature, less well-represented in the works of the "Kyivska Starina" circle, was represented by several works outside the journal.

We continue publishing the article “The Development of Ukrainian Studies in the 19th Century and the Exposing of the Main Issues of Ukrainian Studies in it” (1914). Today – the next 4 chapters, including "The Ukrainian National Thought Movement of the 1840s and Its Reflection in Ukrainian Studies of the 1850s and 1860s."
Scientific work, thus, did not stop, but a fresh wind blew into Ukrainian scientific fields only from the second half of the 1850s.

We are beginning to publish the article “The Development of Ukrainian Studies in the 19th Century and the Exposing of the Main Issues of Ukrainian Studies in it” (1914). Today – the first 3 chapters, including “The Antique Character of Old Ukrainian Studies and New Views on the Ukrainian Element.”
In the sphere unrelated to practical life, in which Ukrainianism was cultivated by Ukrainophiles in the 1820s and 1830s, it did not encounter serious obstacles from outside.
